Sobre este curso

This practical training course is designed for university teachers who teach or intend to teach academic content in English. 300 participants have successfully undertaken the course so far. In order to follow the course and fully participate in the activities an English level of C1 (CEFR) is recommended.

Competencias que adquirirás

Participants will learn to:

  • reflect on and address the theoretical principles and methodological challenges of EMI in a university context.
  • address the language demands of EMI.

Metodología Docente

The course includes both theoretical and practical aspects but, overall, the emphasis is on putting EMI teaching and language strategies into practice.

Evaluación

  • Participants will be given feedback on the lesson plan for the microteaching session.
  • Particpants will receive both trainer and peer feedback on the microteaching itself.
  • Participants will have to submit a Reflective Teaching Plan (RTP).

This intensive course was previously offered as part of the Plan DOing programme. In order to follow the course and fully participate in the activities, an English level of C1 (CEFR) is strongly recommended. 

La asistencia presencial de al menos un 80% del curso es un requisito imprescindible para la obtención del certificado del curso, independientemente del motivo que lo provoque, ya sea justificado o injustificado. El control de presencia será realizado por parte del equipo docente del curso.

The course will be divided into 3 parts:

  • Week 1: methodology and preparation for microteaching + language input
  • Week 2: microteaching

  • Participants will be required to read a number of short texts regarding methodology. 
  • Participants will have to prepare and give a 20-minute microteaching lesson based on a detailed lesson plan.
  • Participants will be required to reflect on their experience of the course and complete a Reflective Teaching Plan (RTP).
